Okay, so I get word from a good friend on NS that Unified Sith is bitching about the fact that Hogsweat is using his old stats in RPs. Now, why does what this insignificant puppetwhore have to say bug me, you ask? Simply, he's making a poor attempt at treading under the good name of a good person and RPer. If I have anything to say about it, that's going to stop.

1) I wonder if it ever occured to the magget-infested puppetwanker that Hogsweat might have asked, and been granted, permission to do this? Certainly that is the case with my upcoming RP with him and I can't find a reason the Hogsweat might deviate from that pattern.

2) I know wanker!Sith knows his own SOP backwards and forwards, and could probably spot one of his own kind from a megamile away, but didn't he think that somebody wouldn't be quick to call him on his own offenses? Anybody remember the Bob-Bob episode?

I doubt I'm the only one who thinks this about the self-absorbed ignoramus, so join me in a joint condemnation of this a$$hole by sounding off in the comments section.

The recent deletion of Hogsweat on dubious grounds and the subsequent leaving of several good RPers has ticked me off. Royally.

For those of you unfamiliar with the situation, Hogsweat was deleted for what Scolo and other mods called "griefing". After one of Haven's residents went to the mods about assigning the region a founder -we hadn't had one in years and it was felt by the region that one was needed- and was subsequently denied, we began to consider alternative options. The only viable option available to us was to have Hogsweat kick everybody from the regon and then let it die so it could be refounded. This had the unintended benefit of purging all the inactive RPers in the region. Shortly thereafter, Scolo sends one of his puppets into the region to keep it alive for "evidentiary purposes" and then preceeds to completely erase the password and regional information. A couple hours later I found out Hogsweat had been deleted for the aforementioned imagined offense. Naturally all members of Haven that were on at the time rallied to Hogsweat's defense on mIRC and all active members of Haven have since criticized the decision. The excuses of the mods were many and pitiful:

1) If we investigate one case, we must investigate all of them.

Bullshit. There need only be investigations where ambiguity is involved. Having the "victims" go directly to the mods about the decision introduces a great deal of ambiguity.

2) Investigating cases takes too much work.

Laziness if I ever heard it. I was directly involved in the defense of an ex-nation who had been accused of having multis where plenty on investigation was involved, but then again it was Salusa who was handling the case, I have the distinct impression that he's one of the few mods who has any real work ethic. As it is, the mods accepted positions that were offered to them, nobody held a weapon to them. Don't say at one moment, "I accept the responsiblity that goes with this job" and then some time later say, "Well, I don't much like this work and responsibility thing, I'm going to try and dodge it."

3) Hogsweat should have come before the mods.

Excuse me? Corrent me if I'm wrong, but regional delegates are primarily for the purpose of running the region in the absense of founders, as well as casting UN votes. If you don't want delegates to abuse their power there are several ways of fixing the problem, including stripping the damn power. "But that creates more problems than it fixes," I hear mods cry. Oh well, you shouldn't have fucked up in the first place, it's the price you pay for not being able to see into the future. Break down and engage more than two braincells at a time, perhaps you can come up with a creative solution.

4) But we have rules and procedures we have to follow.

If I don't hear "Bullshit" being shouted off the rooftops by a hundred different people, they must no longer play NS. Hell, I know of a case where a nation was brough back for the dead after being deleted for flaming, his reason being that he was seriously depressed at the time. Don't you think if you can do that, you might be able to reverse your decision when you fucked up? Then again, I don't really believe there are any rules and procedures, I won't until they're posted for all of NS to see.

So here's the situation as I see it: Hogsweat was deleted simply because the mods couldn't be assed to ask what the hell was going on and then used every feeble excuse under the sun from, "But he didn't stroke me ego" to "I'm a pot-smoking bean-counter-in-training" just to avoid biting the bullet and admitting they were wrong. Then, when they finally kinda-sorta admitted they might have made a mistake, they refuse to reverse it when there's a clear precedent for reversing decisions based upon much thinner ice than this situation involves. Folks, this is what happens when you don't regularly recycle the mods and the admin doesn't/refuses to scrutinize the activies of the mods. Corruption's a bitch, and it's going to ruin this game.

This is my blog. Mostly it'll deal with NS and whatever activities I happen to be engaged in at the time. I'll probably rant from time to time about some NSer who has pissed me off or something that is just wrong, IMHO, about something in NS.
